777 Casino Pkwy, Murphy, NC 28906 in the Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino
Now I am not much a gambler, but I may be a casino enthusiast now after this fine meal at the Ramsay’s Kitchen at the Harrah’s Casino in Murphy, North Carolina, about 25 minutes over the border from Georgia.
The view from the outdoors patio of the Blue Ridge Mountains is ideal for photos, and we were lucky enough with our 5pm reservation to witness a heavenly sunset. The staff were high end pros, from the team at the hostess stand to our server Brittany. She shared that the majority of the recipes on the Ramsay’s Kitchen menu were family favorites and family secrets of the British celebrity chef, author, restauranteur, and TV host Gordon Ramsay. We were told many of these recipes were uncovered, researched and mastered during the 2020 covid crisis. Let me say we were all torn from what to choose!

From the glassware that was unique and sophisticated for our martinis and cocktails, to the view from the window tables, the experience started off on a fine note. Again, we recommend a 5pm reservation so you can experience and enjoy the view from outside the casino.

The Meal: Whenever I see Beef Wellington on any menu, I don’t need to read any further. The beef wellington at Ramsay’s is not the traditional slice of a large tenderloin in flaky pastry crust, but it is an individual filet mignon in its own little pastry crust! I have never seen a beef wellington presented this way! A filet in its own flaky and flavorful pastry crust was ideal at the recommended medium rare temp, and the crust was less flaky like a biscuit, but more like a golden baked savory roll. It did not require a dash of salt or pepper and the potatoes and carrots that come with it were perfect.

The rest of the table order included the scallops which were light and perfectly roasted with a risotto with a very light fennel accent. The filet was a perfect medium rare and seasoned; not a crystal of salt or flake of pepper needed, and the salmon was very, very light. We know salmon and it was cooked so rare, as requested that it was almost raw, like in sushi, so it was the most light and most rare salmon we have had, which was a treat. We started with the Blue Cheese Wedge Salad and note it is very good and there is enough for four! We plan to return often to Ramsay’s Kitchen to try the sandwiches, like the elevated Reuben sandwich, and the occasional dinner specials. This was one one of the finest meals we have had in the North Georgia region, and even if you are not a gambler, the casino has a bowling alley, an arcade, and a variety of bars for watching sports so add it to your North Georgia culture and dining adventures! Please tell them or comment on social media that you read this review on NorthGeorgiaCulture.com.
