112 Wellborn Street, Blairsville, Georgia 30512 (Right in the heart of downtown Blairsville)
We visited Grandaddy Mimm’s “The Co-op” earlier this fall in Blairsville when they were hosting a fundraiser on behalf of the chimpanzee sanctuary, Project Chimps, that we had visited and written about earlier in the year: Project Chimps – an inspiration and wonder near Blue Ridge, Georgia. So impressive and generous for Grandaddy Mimm’s to support such a outstanding cause, and so smart to get new people through the door. Right away we loved the nostalgia and vintage decor of the distillery, tasting room, bar, and stage for live performances. That afternoon there was a guitarist singing Southern rock classics, and a nice sized crowd support Project Chimps and some other folks who may have been regulars.

We tried a special mixed moonshine drink. I do appreciate moonshine, and unless I am slowly sipping it, I need it mixed with something and this drink was mixed not too sweet, just enough sweet and tart to balance out the moonshine. We will be returning to try other drinks, and to venture out to enjoy the rest of Blairsville for a meal.

The bartenders were charming, pleasant, funny, super-knowledgeable and informed about all the offerings, and they were effectively multi-tasking taking care of multiple customers. You are able to buy a bottle as well and take it with you, which we saw more than once, and we love that they host trivia on Friday nights at 7pm! I prefer a 7pm trivia so I am not rushing straight from work. So while we only tasted one moonshine cocktail, it was very fine and we’d try their other cocktails and their small batch recipe whiskey, vodka, and rum. Please tell the charming and lovely team at Grandaddy’s Mimm’s that you read a review on NorthGeorgiaCulture.com and we hope to see you there!
