Habersham Winery – Tasting Review (Helen, Georgia)

Habersham Winery June 2025

7025 S Main St, Helen, Georgia 30545

What a delightful, refreshing, excellent tasting we shared at Habersham Winery late June 2025! We had a similar experience at their sister vineyard Creekstone, and we were impressed by Habersham at every step. We learned that Habersham is the oldest winery in the area and all the grapes are local, grown there at Habersham or at the sister winery Creekstone. We have more to say about the space and the team, but first, here are our observations and review of the wines, and we opted for the Dry wines!

Traminette – Strong scent, super floral on the nose

Signet – A blend of 3 fines mixed so well that it was more of a “solution” (to use an old chemistry class reference) as opposed to a blend or mixture. The mixture came together in such a smooth way it was a true new blend, with its own character.

Chardonnay – This is one of those Dry wines that you could drink a lot of, almost dangerous, it is such a a fine and easy drink!

Merlot – A lot going on! A symphony of flavors; chocolate on the first sip and cooked fruit on the second sip. This would be great for Barbeque.

Cherokee Rose (the Georgia state flower) – Lovely color, a pale and peachy color, skews sweet if you prefer sweeter wines this is your wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon – We got hints of cherry, this has a lovely body and lingers in the mouth, just what you want in a Cab.

Scarlett – Off Dry that we enjoyed, would say it drinks like a Pinot Noir.

White Muscadine – Very true to the grape! Naturally sweet but not sweet in an off-putting way; a true Muscadine that we enjoyed; the muscadine taste stays with you!

We were impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the staff, and we saw that all the customers were receiving attentive advice and service while the team behind the bar were working with multiple groups and couples. Real pros! The tasting room is right beside some of the wine-making equipment and steel casks and machinery, and it is right there behind glass, so you get to see a glimpse of how the wine is made. Habersham has an excellent store with wine apparel and accessories and general souvenirs and gifts. So if you need a gift, pop in the Habersham shop! They are also DOG FRIENDLY! They also have plenty of space that is covered in their patio that also has an outside beer bar. Habersham is a great location if you are looking for a spot in Helen to happy hour or bring a date or meet with friends or co-workers. North Georgia Culture will be returning and may not go into Helen at all. Remember to tip 15-20% of your tab and please tell the fine folks at Habersham that you read a review on NorthGeorgiaCulture.com
