9110 GA-52 East, Ellijay, Georgia 30536
Ellijay, Georgia is a part of North Georgia famous for their apple orchards and apple picking farms for family outings, and all kinds of apple pies, and other apple pastries and goods. Reece’s Cider Company has a beautiful, and expansive indoor/outdoor tasting room with a stage, and the setting is ideal for a date or to bring a large party. You order your ciders from a central area where the two folks on staff were very knowledgeable and efficient and we opted for a tasting of the Dry ciders. Here is our Cider Review:
- Ellijay Apple (Their Flagship Cider!); Very pleasant, somewhere between a wine and a beer, not at all like drinking apple juice, and not sweet at all.
- Hops of Jupiter; Perfect cider for IPA lovers and fans, smells like an IPA, very hoppy, with that light weed taste – a favorite if you appreciate IPAs.
- Pink Lady; No smell, not even apple, slight tartness, very light and neutral, a perfectly easy cider that anyone would enjoy if you were new to ciders.
- Reece’s Reserve; Oak on the back of it, vanilla hints, almost creamy, Very Dry, a smooth cider at first and then later you get the Oak. Not overly appley or or overly cidery, very interesting.

We were so impressed and fascinated to learn about all the cool ways they make their craft cider – from using Bourbon barrels, to using Champagne yeast, to blending their ciders. **We discovered that the ciders tasted differently based on the order we tasted them. After tasting all of them, we returned to our first cider, and it was much sweeter than the first time around. So a completely different taste and experience depending on the order you try your ciders. Very cool and taught us that craft ciders were much more complex and nuanced than we wine enthusiasts were aware. We look forward to returning and highly recommend Reece’s with your partner, friends or family. Please tell them you read this cider review here at North Georgia Culture.
