427 Castleberry Bridge Rd, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534 (Be mindful of the directions and pay attention as there is a lot of construction in the area and not hard to miss a turn)
This was our THIRD visit to the Dahlonega Butterfly Farm. The first two times we paid for the tour of the butterfly habitat, which is a lot of fun if the butterflies are active and energetic), and this time we just stayed for a tour of the lovely grounds and the wine. The wine is from the Buckley Winery and Vineyards of Ellijay, Georgia (our review of Buckley is coming very soon), and we prefer their dry apple wine. It just seems right to drink dry apple wine while touring a butterfly farm. The tasting room does offer a wide variety of Buckley wines, so you will find something right for you, and they also offer sparkling water and sodas. The Dahlonega Butterfly Farm also offers many different outdoors native plants for sale, like Paw Paw trees, which are VERY hard to find for sale. They also have a great selection of indoors plants and we bought a gorgeous Mother-in-Law’s Tongue (Snake Plant) and we also bought 2 Paw Paw trees for the outdoors. The grounds are lovely and manicured so you can just stroll, or sit and talk among nature if you like, or pay the very reasonable admission to enter the butterfly house. They are dog friendly as long as your dog is friendly and leashed, and the grounds are fun to bring youngsters. The day had been very rainy and cloudy, so during this visit the grounds were absent of pollinators, but most days you can see all kinds of butterflies, bees, and dragon flies just on the grounds!
