Wolf Mountain Vineyard – Review (near Dahlonega)

Wolf Mountain Vineyards May 2025

180 Wolf Mountain Trail, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533

Wolf Mountain Vineyard sits on beautiful grounds and the landscaping is impeccable and looks very natural. This is one of the larger vineyards in North Georgia who host private events like weddings on a regular basis, and when we visited in May 2025, they were hosting a private event so we enjoyed our tasting outside. The staff were attentive and informed about the wines. **No dogs allowed as Wolf Mountain is a working farm with animals. ** This was one of the tastings where you returned to the bar for each glass, so you received the background of each wine from the staff with each tasting. Here is out review of the tasting:

  1. Plenitude – Chardonnay and Viognier blend gets an A+ and is a strong start to the tasting. Drinks like a tropical pinot grigio, is stainless and clean. We had to buy a bottle!
  2. Chanteloup – Same grape combination as the first, but one oaked and one stainless. While we prefer the Plenitude, this is a very nice buttery, California style Chardonnay and is very good if you prefer a California style Chardonnay.
  3. Classique – this is not a California style Chardonnay, much more perky and more fruit than oak.
  4. Coupage – Not tannic at all, no astringency in the mouth, very smooth with hints of cherries and blackberries.
  5. Claret – Unexpectedly a little tart, more tannic and more robust, not as heavy as expected however, and more astringent. Best paired with food and would complement perfectly the earthiness of a fine steak off the grill.

Wolf Mountain offers pizzas and meat and cheese boards for sharing, so no outside food or your own snacks. Wolf Mountain is a working farm so dogs are not allowed. Wolf Mountain grows their own red grapes that prefer their location, and mixture of sun and shade. We plan to return to tour all the beautiful grounds and indoor spaces when they are not hosting a private event, but when you drive in, and drive out, drive slowly to enjoy the landscaping and architecture.
