Winery Review – Doghobble Wine Farm – Dahlongega, Georgia

Doghobble Winery

Address for GPS: 10 Roy Grindle Road, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533 (keep eyes peeled for a vintage beat up pick-up truck near the winery entrance)

April 2025 update: We were at a fundraiser for the Charles Smithgall Humane Society, and noticed that this winery had donated wine and wine accessories for their silent auction. So while we already really liked Limoges, we like them more knowing they support the Humane Society and rescue dogs and cats.

April 2025 update: We stopped in near closing time and had the chance to catch up with the owner of Doghobble, a gentleman named Sam, who showed us the progress on a new indoors tasting room. The current tasting room is an outdoors pavilion that is an ideal location on a sunny day, and we would like to hunker down there on a stormy day too to watch the weather. There are plenty of seats under the roof and every time we have been there, 2 to 3 bartenders so you are rarely waiting much time at all for another glass of wine. The indoors tasting room is coming along nicely, will be stylish and rustic indoors, warm and homey, with plentiful bathrooms, and we can’t wait for it to be open later in 2025. Please see the menu that describes a great tasting flight. This is from April 2025:

Doghobble is another favorite winery of ours for the location, the charming covered outdoors venue, and their plans for the future. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED as the property is a farm, with a variety of animals on property, that you may get the great chance to see and observe if they are out. The covered tasting room is a large space with firepits, plenty of comfortable seating, open air but covered by a roof that allows you to gaze over the grounds of the surrounding woods, possible animal sightings, and to relax. We would actually plan a visit when a thunderstorm is rolling in because it would be a cool covered area to watch a storm. The wines are very good, mixture of blends and some wines made from their own grapes and some from imported grapes. The wine bar is well staffed so easy to order, and there are a few snacks and empanadas offered.

We are following them for their special author events and other cultural events like a paella tasting with a renowned South American chef. Be sure to note their future event promotions and announcements when there for next time. Doghobble has a construction going on right now, an enclosed indoors tasting room that will be quite cool, comfortable, and cleverly designed. We had the good fortune of visiting the tasting room under construction, and it will be a great option for private events, and for chilly days next fall 2025, by when it should be completed. Be sure to tip 15-20% on your tab or $1 per wine or drink as is traditional!
