Buckley Vineyards (Ellijay) – Winery Review

What beautiful grounds and expertise in the architecture and design and decoration! Here is something to remember: Buckley is open EVERY DAY! We were thrilled to learn that Buckley was open each day and that is rare for North Georgia. We admired all the artwork and design and learned one of the owners had a background in interior design, and that showed. Just a beautiful space and privilege to see. **Note no dogs except actual Service Dogs.** We were there on a Thursday and it was not crowded but as the images show, they have ample space for large group, double dates, bring your friends, or just go to hang out with other North Georgia wine lovers! Something to note; all their Whites are help in Stainless Steel, so no Oak flavor or taste. The staff were all very pleasant and informed and knowledgeable about their wines. Here are our reviews and observations from our tasting:

1. Mountain Mist Vidal Blanc – Perky and tart! Nice for a party.
2. Jeanne Sauvignon Blanc – Most Dry offering of the tasting that day. Good, crisp White with no surprises; just what you would expect and want from a Sauvignon Blanc.
3. Amber Vidal Blanc – This was a stand out wine for us. Described as crafted in Old World style, it was, and we approved.
4. Coco Chardonnay – Named after one of their dogs, does not drink as crisp as the other stainless white wines; this offers a much more creamy vibe with a hint of gasoline.
5. Corinne Apple Wine – 100% Apple Wine, with No Added Sugar. This is made from fermented apples with minimal processing. Pure apple wine. If you enjoy ciders, you will love this option, and again it is not too sweet at all as one might anticipate.
6. Chenin Blanc – Floral scent, citrusy, some minerality, with a little funk on the back end to the palette.

Again, this is one of the most well laid out and artfully decorated winery and tasting room we have visited. We waged the weekend are a lot of fun. Remember to tip the traditional 15-20% and tell them you read a review on NorthGeorgiaCulture.com.
