What a surprise to find Rabun Social is an Asian, Asian-Fusion, and Sushi restaurant! We had walked by a few times and assumed maybe a biker bar vibe, bar food, but we were thrilled at their Asian options, and very impressed with the quality of their unique Asian offerings. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive, and we liked their choices of Japanese beer and sake options, that are not easy to find in North Georgia. We opted for the Lucky Buddha and a classic Sapporo. I was hungry, so the Bulgogi Beef Sandwich and their special house fries were a great choice. The Bulgogi Beef was flavorful and seasoned, the bun was not too much bread and kimchi mayo, radish, cucumber and lettuce were a perfect complement to cut through the powerful flavor of the Bulgogi Beef – just an outstanding sandwich. The seasoning on the fries was very good too. We also had sushi – the Crunchy Tuna Roll that had serrano pepper on top. It was very fresh, the rice was perfectly steamed, the tuna was fresh and light, and please note the serrano pepper is Hot! We liked it a lot, and you will too if you like hot (spicy) food, but opt for a different roll if hot and spicy not your preference. We plan on returning to Rabun for certain, and if you just want a beer or cocktail or snack, they have outside seating against the bar for easy and fast service. We also really liked their choice of art (the frames of their paintings were actually drawn on the walls), they had a Contemporary portrait of Anthony Bourdain, and the octopus over the door was masterfully painted over multiple surfaces. Just a cool place to dine, have a beer or fine meal, and to hang out!
