March 2026 Update – Holden Oversoul now offers a menu of their own bespoke and custom pizzas, and it is Very Difficult to choose! We were fully prepared to order one of their pizzas that are made with multiple fine cheeses, meat from their TexGA partners and everything fresh. We went with one of their specials of the day when we heard it was Lemon Ricotta, TexGA steak, Arugula Pesto, TexGA bacon, onions, and mushrooms and the steak was a flavorful medium, and the lemon ricotta cut through the complemented the richness of the pizza, so it was just an excellent pizza and highly recommended should it return to the menu and all of their new pizzas are different and we wager are delicious. We also ordered the Fried Shrimp that was on that Thursday’s menu, and it is a regular on the Tuesday Fish Camp menu. So we were lucky to have the fried shrimp as an option which does not require a crystal of salt or flake of pepper, whatever their house batter is, it is very flavorful and spicy, and the shrimp were fried perfectly. Wonderful once again!

August 2025 update – Recently visited Holden Oversoul again and we were impressed that, while there was a 15 minute wait for a table or even two seats at the bar, they have a “walk up” bar on their patio where you can order drinks while you wait! Anyway, the special that night was the Bone-in Ribeye by (Medium Rare) by TeXga Farms. This was one of the finest steaks I had enjoyed in a long time, a long time. Zero salt or seasoning were needed as it was seasoned perfectly, and the mashed potatoes and asparagus were also exemplary. Again, the service at bar delivered by Megan was outstanding. She is a true pro who can manage all her customers instinctively and she knows how to make proper drinks, proper craft cocktails. We look forward again to our next visit!
“What a nice place and what fine meals!” was our exclamation more than once after dining at Holden Oversoul in the central main area of Demorest. We always like to sit at the bar, no matter where we are, as we enjoy the banter with the bartender, we order numerous rounds of drinks, and for reviewing a restaurant, sitting at the bar allows us to always see what is going on. We found parking nearby easy, and free, and we were pleasantly greeted when we arrived, when we requested to wait for 2 spots at the bar, which was full and is always a good sign. We found our bartender Megan to be funny, engaging, completely knowledgeable and informed about the restaurant dishes and drinks. She did not instantly hit us with the question “Have any questions” (which when used too early can suppress business and the topic of one of our Marketing Strategies columns here in the site), but she let us review the menu, and then we actually did not have any questions for her, but we ordered our Classic City Lager and Sauvignon Blanc. The bartender let us look over the menu and then informed us of the specials. We remarked more than once that the hospitality and style and professionalism felt like we were in a restaurant wanting to offer an experience, not just find out as quickly as possible what we wanted to eat, and asking us questions about if we had questions. We started with a dozen oysters, half raw and half grilled. We have had thousands of oysters, in many different cities, and we are very familiar and knowledgeable about the various West Coast, East Coast, Gulf Coast oysters. These were Georgia coast oysters, so smallish. Bravo to the gentleman who
Everything on the menu sounded good, and we settled on the special which was an ostrich steak from the owner’s farm, and I opted for the pork loaf which was described as a special recipe. My wife orders all steak (ostrich or cow) as rare as possible. We never expect it to come out Blue Rare, which is more rare than Rare (red and cool center). We were delighted and so happy when then ostrich steak came out beautifully displayed showing a clear cool and red rare center. As for my pork loaf, I requested the sauce on the side, and that request is often ignored. My pork loaf came out beautifully with a small side of barbeque on the side. We give both meals A+ with the ostrich being tender, flavorful, and well seasoned. The pork loaf was a beautiful recipe, 2 slices that resembled traditional meat loaf, but this pork loaf was lighter in color. I only had to kiss each bite with a small bit of sauce, to enhance the already flavorful pork loaf. We would order both dishes again. They were hot, clearly prepared per our order, and priced fair for such a nice experience. Be sure to tip 15-20% on your tab! Tell them you read a review on northgeorgiaculture.com!
