We were out winery hopping in Ellijay on a Thursday in May, after the other wineries we visited had closed, and we were thrilled to discover Grapes and Ladders was open, and is open until 8pm on Thursdays! The tasting was a perfect pour, just enough for us to try their dry wines and then buy a bottle. We enjoyed the live music, and admired the art inside their tasting room, and the mural on their building across the lawn. LOOK at the image below of the side tables that they have outside. There is an opening for the bowl of your glass to rest in place, so it can not spill and you can utilize the entire table top for snacks. So CLEVER! Here is our review of the wines we tasted:
- Sauvignon Blanc – Lovely! Not a lot to share as this was just what you expect from a Sauvignon Blanc so it is a conservative choice if sauvignon blanc is your preference.
- Double Dog Dare – This is your sweet wine. For a hot summer day, this is fun like a wine punch.
- Some Like it Red – Beautiful on the nose. A little tart and thin. For your tasting, start with this light delightful Red as the other Reds get heavier and more full bodied.
- Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – Very nice! This is your go to red wine for dinner when you are grilling meat for dinner. Would complement perfectly steak off the grill or barbeque.
- The Coosa Rose – Very nice! Crisp and Dry finish with hints of strawberry shortcake on the nose.
