On the main street of Clayton in the middle of the action, 58 N Main St, Clayton, GA 30525.
We stopped in Highroads unexpectedly after a day of winery tours and reviews of the Clayton and Tiger wineries and vineyards. Highroads is on the main strip of town, adjacent to the eateries, the sports bar, the antiques shop, and other Clayton dining and drinking establishments.
The tasting room is very charming and comfortable and can accomodate a number of parties in different settings around the room which is decorated with great art on a rotating basis by different artists. The artist we saw during our April 2025 visit specialized in realism paintings of the North Georgia bears and other animals, and landscapes of the North Georgia mountains. They do have new artists and many of the artists are showing for the very first time at Highroads. They also regularly have music in the evenings and other cultural events. The tasting room is quite a community and public space that is inviting to all. We had the good fortune of speaking with the owners who curate all the foods and snacks from local suppliers, and their wine, mead, and beer selections are curated and are chosen from around the world. They do not just have local wines! While we adore, love, and support the local wines, we were delighted to see some California wines on their menu, as well as French and Italian wines, and the owners shared that their menu changes as they add new wines that they like. What a nice option for wine enthusiasts to be near so many North Georgia wineries, and have a place like Highroads when you are seeking a fine French wine. We wish we could have stayed longer and will be returning to Highroads and making it our anchor as we explore Clayton.
