Distillery Review – Big Creek – between Cleveland and Dahlonega

Big Creek Distillery

2148 Town Creek Church Road, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533 (about halfway between Cleveland and Dahlonega)

We are so happy to have a big distillery nearby and it is open air, with the garage door walls up in the spring and summertime and it is nice enclosed and indoors during the winter. They have a good sized ground with tables for you to bring your leashed and well behaved dog and the house dog is often there too. They have an extensive menu of specialty cocktails, but please note you can just order a gin and soda as well, or just a gin and tonic. You are not limited to what is on the menu. I prefer just a simple gin and soda for instance, so that is what I order even though the specialty cocktails are nice. My wife loves their Hot Toddy when we visit in the winter, so please consider that warm drink if you are also there during our winters. We have been many times, and have tried their flights that include the gin, moonshine, and either the bourbon or whiskey, and we did not notice a sharp or distinctive difference between them. They were all nice and smooth, but we would have been at a disadvantage if we were blind taste testing, so if have a liquor of choice, like I am with gin, stick with that. We have given a bottle of moonshine as a gift to friends in New York, and it was well received and the moonshine is not as harsh or rough to drink as some moonshines are. This is a smooth moonshine that you can sip. The space is large, so again, feel free to bring a party and enjoy the space especially if the day is nice and sunny.
