Sometimes I think I would be a contender in a wings eating contest, and sometimes I think I am more suited to judge a wing eating competition. After a day nearby at the Scottish Festival at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMO-6aWszxS/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==, we stopped unexpectedly in to Hiawassee Brew for an early supper and a few beers. The staff were very pleasant and highly professional and they offer a wide variety of beers. We opted for the Mexican lagers, some dry rub wings and the fish tacos. The Mexican lager was a fine lager, refreshing and hit the spot. The fish tacos were nicely done, not too much sauce and the fish was not overly fried or prepared so made for a nice taco. The dry rub wings were outstanding, spicy, flavorful. Our only comment is that they were drizzled in a little honey based sauce, that we do not think they needed. The dry rub recipe was good enough. We were not able to spend a lot of time at Hiawassee Brew but will definitely return and set aside time to try their other beers (there are a lot that they make right there on site) and the rest of their menu. Order the wings or tacos and you won’t regret it! Remember to tip 15-20% of your tab and tell them the fine folks at Hiawassee you read about them on NorthGeorgiaCulture.com!
