September 2025 Wine Review – We returned early this month to Creekstone to try their latest wine and because they are open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday. We had the opportunity to speak with a member of the team named Brenda who was a true pro, informed about their wines, charming and managing us as well as the pretty crowded evening. Creekstone, unlike some wineries in North Georgia, does attract a crowd so it is fun to visit on the weekends. We learned their wine maker crafts all their wines do you can truly taste the grape and we were impressed to learn has a degree from UC Davis. We were fascinated to learn just a part of the technique involves using American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels, and the then the wines are finished in stainless steel barrels. Now on to our wine review!

  1. Seyval Blanc – One of their two most Dry wines, it is salty, almost briny, earthy, savory, very Dry with a Brightness to it, and hints of apricot.
  2. Vidal Blanc – The other most Dry wine, very nice lactic taste almost when breathing out, while Dry there are hints of fruit like canned pear specifically, and grapefruit.
  3. NEW Chardonnay – This is a brand new offering that Brenda suggested, and we LOVED it! It is unlike any other chardonnay we have had! At first, almost a taste of gingerbread, and there was no smell of Oak. With further tastes, it makes you want to pair it and eat it with Brie and a Biscoff cookie or a whole wheat Carr’s cracker. This Chardonnay was super easy drinking, perfectly Dry and so interesting. On another taste we got baby food like pears or pear puree and then cinnamon-applesauce. You must try this new Chardonnay.

As expected all the staff are pros, nice to be around a crowd, and since they stay open until 9pm, it is a rare chance to see a famous North Georgia mountains sunset. We look forward to returning! Read Creekstone’s descriptions of these fine wines below.

We visited Creekstone Winery on a Friday night in May 2025 when we were thrilled to learn they were open until 9pm. Most wineries, bars, restaurants, distilleries in North Georgia close at 5pm or 6pm, so 9pm is considered late, and North Georgia Culture welcomes and loves it!

The grounds are lovely and the view of the mountains is one of the finest. The staff were knowledgeable, informed, engaged with all their customers and multi-tasking to ensure all customers were well cared for. They host music on Fridays, and the gentleman playing guitar and singing covers and originals was excellent. The crowd was mostly outside enjoying the view and the music, but there is ample space inside that was comfortable and the gift shop offered a fine choice of gifts or mementos to add to your bottles of wine going home with you.

Here are our observations on the wines we tasted:

  1. Cardinall Red – Creekstone calls it their Flagship wine, and we agree 1000%. We discovered hints of cooked fruit on the nose, nice tannins, good astringency, bold flavor with a long finish. A very lovely Red! A real star!
  2. Pinot Noir (Red) – Very pleasant, light, great for a cool day or a Fall day, hints of cherries, hint of tobacco, very smooth and easy drinking.
  3. Vidal Blanc (White) – Notes of honey on the nose, rounded and balanced, a bit tart from the peach, floral, pear and citrus aromas.
  4. Seyval Blanc (White) – A bit tart with hints of lemon juice; citrus and dried fruit aromas with a hint of grassiness.

In summary: Their grapes are grown there or at the nearby Habersham Winery, their sister winery. They are open later than many wineries, great gift shop, well behaved dogs on leashes are permitted, and they had a crowd on a Friday night! Also, nice menu from the kitchen of dishes perfect for sharing. We will be back.

Please tell Creekstone you read about them on http://www.northgeorgiaculture.com and remember to tip the fine staff!
